Colin Munro (46 off 24) and Gulbadin Naib (4-12) delivered as Balkh Legends edged Kandahar Knights by 13 runs which is now their second consecutive win in the ongoing Afghanistan Premier League 2018.
After putting Legends to bat first, Knights couldn’t stop Munro from punishing them as he hammered three fours and three maximums in his 24-ball innings. He was dismissed by Karim Janat, courtesy a sharp catch by Stirling at backward point. The destroyer of the previous game, Ryan ten Doeschate was dismissed on 13 when he tried to clear the infield. He was caught at long-on by McCullum.
Ravi Bopara chipped in with a rather sedate 29-ball 34 (consisting of three boundaries) to lift the final total to 165/5 by the end of 20 overs. Gulbadin Naib struck in the fifth over as his slower ball deceived Paul Stirling when tried to swat it towards the on-side but it caught the leading edge and fell straight into the hands of the mid-off fielder.
The wickets continued to fall as Gulbadin Naib removed McCullum and Karim Sadiq. Skipper Asghar Afghan showed resistance with couple of beautiful shots down the ground but he ended up dragging the ball onto the stumps when he was on 45. The last recognized batsman, Kevin O’Brien was deceived by beautiful slower yorker from Naib which dipped on him and knocked the bails off. At that point the game was finished for Kandahar Knights.
Gulbadin Naib was declared man of the match for his magical spell of bowling.
